Well the first chunk of the year has been quite hectic, gigs coming in thick and fast and repeat bookings too so we must be doing something right. It has been a fantastic honour for us to play for the 2nd Battalian Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) on their homecoming recently. Well done to Steve Perkins and the Modforit Dj collective for putting together an awsum party. All proceeds went to H4H.
In June we are booked for another charity close to a few of the band members hearts. A little known fact is that Stu and Faz are keen sea anglers, Jethro has been known to drowned the odd rag worm too. When we were asked to play an all day open air festival in aid of the RNLI, we jumped at the chance. This is a 2 day festival, and the rumour is that The Barmy Army will be in attendance and pitching their tents. See gigs section for more details.
We have been asked to contribute to a compilation cd to accompany the latest book by Tony Beesley. Tony is making a name for himself in certain circles as top comentator on youth culture from the mid 70’s to the present date. His latest book features the mod rivival and scooter scene from the late 70’s. Consequently, Barmy Surplus are hitting the recording studio in May, our intention is to have a mini album ready for Mid summer…as well as contribute to Tony’s project. Keep an eye out for ‘This Is Our Generation Calling’ and find Tony over on the links page.
